Oh Yeah, BTW

I feel like everybody knows at this point since I've talked to most of my friends and family and posted it on my Facebook but I never actually made a post here so maybe everybody doesn't know. I'm pregnant! Finally! I'm 14 weeks and due at the end of November. Zack and I were trying for over a year and I ended up taking Clomid which thankfully worked the first time. I'm not sure what the problem was since it was so easy (read: unplanned) to get preganant with Aida but life is wierd like that sometimes.

Aida is super excited. She tells every stranger she meets that she's going to be a big sister and "mama has a baby in her belly" which is really cute except not really. Hopefully it will stop being so awkward now that I'm a little farther along. I was really nauseous my first trimester which didn't happen with Aida so I'm happy that is starting to fade now. I'm already feeling much better.

Aida's 3rd Birthday Tea Party

Aida's 3rd birthday was on Monday and on Saturday we had an afternoon tea party for her and some of her friends and cousins. She pretty much latched on to the idea of a tea party a couple months ago and has talked about it constantly since. Every time she would talk to somebody the first words out of her mouth were "Are you coming to my tea party?" Needless to say, she was excited.

I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out, here is everything I did (pictures are below):

Decorations: I was able to use a lot of stuff that we already had in our garage from previous parties, like the paper plates, cups, and silverware. I got some ribbon and clip-on flowers from the craft store for a buck each to decorate the umbrella and I had to buy a tablecloth for 3 bucks, everything else we already had. Aida got a cute tea set from her Ahma so we set that out as a centerpiece. I also put out some small glass bowls filled with candy.

Favors: I bought some small white bags and stuffed them with some candy, then I folded it over and tied it with a string and then added a label with each kid's name. They were supposed to look like oversized tea bags. :)

Food: We made PB&J sandwiches and cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches. I used a cookie cutter to make them finger sandwiches in cute shapes. I made some shortbread lemon squares, a melon fruit salad and some caprese salad toothpicks. We had lemonade instead of tea.

Crafts: I bought some foam sun visors at the craft store for a buck each and put one by each kid's place setting. One of my friend's brought a bunch of foam stickers and letters and glitter glue that she already had for the kids to use to decorate. We also had some left-over coffee filters which the kids flattened and colored with markers then sprayed with water for a "tie-dyed" effect. My friend brought over some extra pipe cleaners and we bunched them together for flowers when the filters dried. The spray bottles were also a hit for chasing each other around the yard. :)

Cake: I saw this idea on the internet and decided to be ambitious and attempt it: make a "tea set" out of cupcakes. Two cupcakes together for the tea pot and one cupcake each for the cups and then all the detailing is done with candy. They probably could have been a little neater looking, but overall I think they turned out super cute. The chocolate sprinkles on top of the cups is supposed to be the tea. You can see what I mean in the pictures. Seriously, how cute is that? :)

My mom was able to come into town on Wednesday night and stay until Saturday morning so she was able to help me get everything ready. Unfortunately she had to catch her flight Saturday morning and had to miss the actual party. But my dad was able to come in for the whole weekend so he was able to celebrate with Aida. She had such a good time, I think overall her tea party was a success!
